DENSITY CORRECTION CURVE GENERATION METHOD AND DENSITY CORRECTION CURVE GENERATION MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for generating a proper density correction curve allowing application of optimum density correction to a photographic image including a face of a person.

SOLUTION: This density correction curve generation module 60 comprises: a basic density correction coefficient determination part 61 determining a basic density correction coefficient on the basis of a representative value obtained from a histogram of the whole input photographic image; a face-dependent density correction coefficient determination part 65 determining a face-dependent density correction coefficient corresponding to a face average density value that is an average density value of a face area by use of a model expression; a face-dependent correction coefficient correction part 66 correcting the face-dependent correction coefficient according to adaptability evaluated by comparing the basic density correction coefficient and the face-dependent correction coefficient; and a density correction curve generation part 67 merging the corrected face-dependent correction coefficient and the basic density correction coefficient at a prescribed merging rate to generate the density correction curve.
