PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which can surely perform video recording of a broadcasting program for a recording medium having such possibility that writing becomes unstable regardless of presence of use history of an optical disk. SOLUTION: The recording position of read-out data indicating the terminal position of data area of a DVD-R is set at the inner periphery side of a disk by depressing a sure video recording key 22a, thereby, the video recordable time of the DVD-R is shortened, writing of data to an outer peripheral part in the recording layer of the DVD-R is not performed intentionally. Consequently, when a user recognizes that a purchased DVD-R is inexpensive and warp is caused, since video recording of a broadcasting program can be surely performed by a simple operation only to depress the sure video recording key, the apparatus becomes excellently convenient.
