PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATA disk array device, a control method for an ATA disk array device, and a control program for an ATA disk array device that can prolong the life of all the ATA disk arrays. SOLUTION: The ATA disk array device 1, which has a plurality of groups of ATA disk arrays 11 and 12, comprises a controller 13 for selecting the operation of either group of, for example, ATA disk arrays 11 and stopping the other group of, for example, ATA disk arrays 12, out of the plurality of groups of ATA disk arrays 11 and 12, at predetermined timing, and a buffer 15 for, at data recording, recording the data once before outputting (recording) it, for example, to the operating ATA disk array 11.
