<p>An oil filter for rejuvenating lubricating oil to prevent premature wear by ensuring that impurities will not circulate through the engine has a housing (1), a mechanically active filter element (8), and a chemically active filter element (15). A flow path defined by the housing is configured to pass the fluid entering the housing through housing inlets (22) first through the chemically active filter element, then through a channel (32) defined within the flow path of the housing at least partially disposed in a space separating the chemically active filter element (15) and the mechanically active filter element (8), then through the mechanically active filter element, and finally to the housing outlets (24) through which decontaminated and purified oil passes to the engine. In one exemplary embodiment of the present invention, substantially all of the fluid flowing through the housing passes through the chemically active filter element.</p> |
