Disclosed is a polycarbonate resin which enables to solve problems of conventional electrophotographic photosensitive members. Also disclosed is an electrophotographic photosensitive member using such a polycarbonate resin which is excellent in cleanability, sliding properties and wear resistance. Specifically disclosed is a polycarbonate resin having a repeating unit represented by the general formula (1) below. Also specifically disclosed is an electrophotographic photosensitive member comprising a photosensitive layer arranged on a conductive base wherein the photosensitive layer contains such a polycarbonate resin. In the general formula (1) below, R represents an alkyl group having 1-3 carbon atoms, n1 represents an integer of 2-4, and n2 represents an integer of 1-200. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
