PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical deflection apparatus that can sufficiently correct vertical pin-cushion distortion without being affected by crosstalk from a horizontal deflection coil to a vertical deflection coil. SOLUTION: A parabola modulation circuit 12 performs amplitude modulation of a horizontal parabola signal HP by a vertical modulation signal VM by multiplying the horizontal parabola signal HP and the vertical modulation signal VM together, and a modulated horizontal parabola signal HP1 is output to one input terminal of an adder 14. A pulse modulation circuit 13 modulates pulse signals P1, P2 given by a plurality of pulse generators 18 by the vertical modulation signal VM and modulated pulse signals P1a, P2a are given to another input terminal of the adder 14. The adder 14 adds the horizontal parabola signal HP1 given by the parabola modulation circuit 12 and the pulse signals P1a, P2a given by the pulse modulation circuit 13 and gives an output signal AD indicating the addition result to one input terminal of a correction current output amplifier 7.
