PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for restricting electric currents within a switch in a switching power supply. SOLUTION: An illustrative switching adjustment circuit includes a power switch coupled to energy transfer elements of power source. A controller for creating a drive signal is coupled so that the signal be received by the power switch, and controls switching of the power switch. A short on-time detector is included within the controller. A short on-time detector detects the advent of one or plural successive short time threshold numbers of the switch. In addition, a frequency regulator is also included in the controller, and coupled to the short on-time detector. The frequency regulator regulates an oscillating frequency of an oscillator included within the controller in response to the short on-time detector. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
