PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain desired zoom magnification even if a portable telephone is made compact. SOLUTION: A portable telephone 10 comprises a slide type telephone main body 12 composed of a transmitting unit 15 and a receiving unit 16, and a camera module 13 incorporated in the telephone main body 12. The camera module 13 comprises a first lens 37, a prism 38, second to fourth lenses 39, 40 and 41 and an optical system housing unit 43, or the like. The optical system housing unit 43 is composed of a first housing unit 51 housing the first lens 37 and the prism 38 and fixed to the receiving unit 16, and a second housing unit 52 housing the second to fourth lenses 39, 40 and 41 and freely extendable and contractable in a sliding direction. Since the optical path lengths of the second to fourth lenses 39, 40 and 41 are extended when used involved in a sliding operation of the receiving unit 16 and contracted when not used, desired zoom magnification can be obtained even though made compact.
