PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line communication system capable of extending an area of a user's home subscribable to an access system service. SOLUTION: The power line communication system uses a shared control signal for coexisting premises PLC MODEMs and access PLC MODEMs, and includes access PLC MODEMs (1-1 to 1-3) existing in an access PLC network and premises PLC MODEMs (3-1 to 3-3) existing in a premises PLC network, wherein the access PLC MODEMs transmits the shared control signal for allowing the premises PLC MODEMs to recognize the presence of the own MODEMs including information associated with a desirable band by the access PLC MODEMs (band acquisition request) to the premises PLC MODEMs, and the premises PLC MODEMs make data transmission/reception by using bands other than the requested band on the basis of the contents of the received shared control signal.
