PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical apparatus and the like in which the influence of the curve of turning back members to the optical scanning on a photoreceptor drum is small. SOLUTION: The scanning optical apparatus has one or more optical scanning means 200 in which luminous fluxes from two light sources are deflected and scanned with a rotating polygon mirror, the luminous fluxes are turned back with two luminous flux turning back members 104a and 104b arranged substantially symmetrically with respect to the rotating polygon mirror, and two photoreceptor drums are scanned with the luminous fluxes. The substantially both ends of the turning back members 104a and 104b in the optical scanning direction are supported by the supporting parts 107a and 107b of a casing 106 and fixed at fixed parts 108a and 108b. The scanning optical apparatus is characterized in that the supporting parts 107a and 107b and the fixed parts 108a and 108b of the turning back members 104a and 104b are arranged so that the direction of the curve of optical scanning caused on the object to be scanned by the curve of the turning back members becomes identical when the turning back members 104a and 104b supported by the supporting parts 107a and 107b are curved by the force applied from the fixed parts 108a and 108b.
