PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a welding current from being shunted to a wire mesh or the like to secure highly reliable welding, concerning a coating construction method and a welding gun, by which the surface of a metallic body is coated with a coating layer by piercing a heat insulating layer or the like, whose surface is held down by a conductive material such as a wire mesh, with the shaft part of a weld pin and welding the tip end of the shaft part to the surface of the metallic body. SOLUTION: A surface pressing means 8 is provided at the tip end of a cylindrical housing 5 of a welding gun 4.
