A cash transaction machine and an initializing method thereof are provided to exactly recover the left paper media by moving the paper media along a first or second moving path and to simplify the inner structure by shortening a recovery path. A cash transaction machine(100) includes a storage unit(120) storing paper media; a recovery unit(160) installed adjacently to the storage unit to recover cash; a withdrawing unit(130) for supplying the paper media drawn from the storage unit to the outside; and a transfer unit(140) having a first transfer path, which is from an outlet of the storage unit to the recovery unit, and a second transfer path, which is a circulating path passing through the recovery unit and an inlet of the withdrawing unit, wherein the paper media is moved to the recovery unit through a passage moving from the inlet of the withdrawing unit to the recovery unit on the second transfer path.
