Disclosed is an aqueous resin composition which does not require a complicated production process but exhibits excellent physical properties without using a surfactant. Specifically disclosed is an aqueous resin composition wherein after being heated and dissolved in the presence of 20-67 parts by mass of a glycol ether compound satisfying the general formula (1) below and 50-380 parts by mass of water, 100 parts by mass of an acid-modified chlorinated polyolefin is dispersed with a basic compound added in a chemical equivalent amount of 1-4 times the amount of the carboxyl groups in the acid-modified chlorinated polyolefin.
