PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding bearing setting method according to which setting accuracy of the sliding bearing is ensured and positioning work of the same is facilitated, and to provide a sliding bearing fixing structure. SOLUTION: A sliding bearing 1 is for use in a base isolation structure of a building, and consists of a sliding plate 3 formed of a flat plate having a sliding surface 3a, a sliding member 4 slidably arranged on the sliding surface 3a, and a holder 5 supporting the sliding member 4 by fitting a lower portion 5b thereof onto the sliding member 4. When the sliding bearing 1 is set, the sliding member 4 and the sliding plate 3 are set in a predetermined relative relationship, and the sliding bearing 1 is formed as a unitary body beforehand by arranging a fixing member 10 having one end face 10a thereof fixed to the holder 5 and the other end face 10b thereof to the sliding plate 3. After setting the unitary body of the sliding bearing 1 to a predetermined location, a second bolt 9 and a third bolt 11 are removed, and then the fixing member 10 is removed.
