PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus capable of automatically setting to an appropriate light modulation mode according to an endoscope connected thereto. SOLUTION: An endoscope apparatus body 3 is provided with a connection detecting means detecting the connection of a light source connector 14 in a light source connector receiving part 8, and a CCD detecting means detecting the presence/absence of a CCD in a signal connector receiving part 9 respectively, and is so constituted as to automatically set to a manual light modulation mode when detecting the connection of the light source connector 14 alone, and to automatically set to an automatic light modulation mode when detecting the both of the light source connector 14 and the signal connector 15 by the CCD detection, which eliminates a trouble of a user for setting the switching of the light modulation mode.
