Device for controlling trim flaps (12, 13) of a boat comprises a flow measuring unit (21) assigned to a hydraulic system to measure the flow of the hydraulic fluid in the system and thus determine the angle of inclination of the assigned trim flaps. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a boat with trim flaps for aligning the boat at different speeds; and (2) a method for controlling trim flaps of a boat using the above device. Preferred Features: The hydraulic system has a hydraulic cylinder (17) for adjusting the angle of inclination of the trim flaps and a hydraulic device (19) for actuating the cylinder. The flow measuring device is assigned to hydraulic lines (20) which lead to the hydraulic device and hydraulic cylinder.
