<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active implantable medical device with an improved mode switching principle in presence of uncertain ventiricular events. <P>SOLUTION: This device paces the ventricle and the atrium of heart to detect atrium events R, r, and applies safety window following the supply of an atrium pacing pulse. Mode switching for triggering conditional switching from AAI to DDD mode is performed, and the occurrence of atrioventricular block is determined according to the presence of continuous atrial events A not succeeded by detection of corresponding ventricle event R outside the safety window within one atrium escaped beat interval to diagnose atrio-ventricular conduction fault. The device further discriminates ventricular events by detecting the occurrence of at least one ventricular event (r) in the safety window when no detected atrioventricular block is present, and when a predetermined condition is satisfied, mode switching can be recorded or mode switching can be inhibited. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
