PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a disk array device and its control method by which storage resources can effectively and efficiently be used. SOLUTION: The disk array device is equipped with a function for storing difference data showing a difference between the content of a first logical volume at a designated point of time and the current content of a first logical volume and difference management information as its management information, and restoring the first logical volume at the designated point of time based on the stored difference data and difference management information. In the disk array device and its control method, a second logical volume for storing the difference management information is set in a storage region provided by a predetermined storage device according to an external operation, and when stopping the operation of the disk array device, the difference management information stored in the predetermined memory is saved to the logical logical volume, and when starting the disk array device, the difference management information is read from the second logical volume to the memory.
