PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce industrially and advantageously produce an iminothiazole compound without complex operations of protection and deprotection and without using methyl isocyanate which has problems in availability and safety. SOLUTION: The iminothiazole compound expressed by formula (5) (wherein R1expresses an aryl group which may be substituted; R2expresses an aryl group which may be substituted; a wavy line expresses (E) or (Z) configuration) or its acid adduct is produced by reacting methyl urea compound expressed by formula (1) with an isocyanate compound expressed by formula (2) to prepare a thiourea compound expressed by formula (3), which is reacted with an acetophenone compound having the eliminable group at theαposition expressed by formula (4) (X expresses an eliminable group).
