The invention relates to the development of a corrosion-resistant magnesium secondary alloy. In the field of magnesium metallurgy, no secondary alloys have existed up to now unlike with other metals such as aluminum. Magnesium alloys are corrosion-resistant if the contents of copper, nickel and iron ar e very low. A recycling of obsolete scrap with the aim of producing structural parts once again has not been possible up to now since too much copper and nickel is contained in this scrap. According to the invention, this problem is resolved by developing a novel magnesium secondary alloy that, despite havin g high contents of copper, nickel, iron and silicon, has the same corrosion properties as pure magnesium alloys.
