An underwater pump with a whirlpool preventing unit is provided to improve the operation efficiency by stably performing a suction operation of a fluid. An underwater pump is installed in a door body(5) of a water gate. The underwater pump sucks a fluid from one direction of a water passage and discharges the fluid to the other direction of the passage. A whirlpool preventing unit(10) is installed in the vicinity of a lower portion of a suction opening(9) in order to prevent generation of whirlpools of the fluid sucked in the vicinity of the lower portion of the underwater pump.
