A mobile terminal having an image projection function is provided to reduce volume of the device by utilizing an optical system of a camera installed within the mobile device and project images by processing image data inputted from an external device, so that the mobile terminal can be used as a portable projector. In a mobile terminal(300) having an image projection function, the mobile terminal comprises the followings: a camera module including a camera lens(330) and an image detection device; a projection type display device(320) for displaying image data; a light source module(312) having a light emission device for emitting light having predetermined brightness; and a control unit(301) for performing control so that the images can be projected through the camera lens of the camera module by driving the light source module.
