A method of balancing the color of a reproduced image and a photographing apparatus using the method are provided to compare the color temperature of an image obtained by photographing a reproduced image displayed on a display with the color temperature of the reproduced image to adjust the color temperature of the reproduced image. A color balancing method includes steps of detecting the color temperature of an image reproduced from a recording medium(S340), detecting the color temperature of an image acquired by photographing the reproduced image displayed on an external display(S330), and comparing the color temperature of the photographed image with the color temperature of the reproduced image to control the color temperature of the reproduced image(S350).
