PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image encoding/decoding method and system for minimizing the complicatedness of hardware while increasing the precision of a compressed image. SOLUTION: An original image is divided into one or more image blocks, and encoded for every block. In encoding, a code word showing a reference color from which a quantized color is derived is generated for each of the pixels of each block. The optimal analog curve as a line on a color space to be determined corresponding to the block type of the image block may be used for the generation of a code word. When decoding the original image from the encoded image obtained in this way, the encoded image is decomposed into encoded image blocks, and decoded for every block in the reverse procedure of the encoding.
