PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction test method and a friction tester capable of measuring stably a friction coefficient at a dry time by solving a problem of generation of a denatured layer of rubber having high adhesion generated on the surface of a rubber test piece. SOLUTION: A disk-shaped rubber test piece X is pressed onto a friction test surface 4c provided on the circumferential surface 4a of a drum 4 by applying a load by a load loading means 37, and then, while supplying a prescribed amount of powder to the interval between the friction test surface 4c and the rubber test piece X by a powder supply means 66, the rubber test piece X and the drum X are rotated at a prescribed speed ratio. While detecting a running torque of the rubber test piece X by a torque detection means 18, the load applied to the rubber test piece X is detected by a load detection means 41, and the friction coefficient is determined by using acquired both detected values.
