PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gasket material and its manufacturing method making most of characteristics of the gasket material coated with a compressive material layer and achieving improvement in sealing property, heat resistance, and the like. SOLUTION: The gasket material A comprises a metal plate 1, a rubber compound layer 3 containing base material fiber comprising compressive inorganic fiber and compressive organic fiber other than asbestos, a rubber material, rubber chemicals and an inorganic filler and integrally stuck to the surface of the metal plate through a heat resistant adhesive 2, and a foam graphite layer 4 formed attached to the surface of the rubber compound layer. The foam graphite layer 4 comprises graphite grains and a binder for fixing the graphite grains into the layer. The binder contains a large number of closed cells. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
