Component (20) contains optically active surface (21) on top side (20b) and transparent plate (30) opposite active surface. Between component and plate is located transparent passivating material (25).Application of passivating material is substantially limited to region between component and transparent plate, mainly by capillary forces, while there may be stop edges on component to prevent spreading of passivating material. Independent claims are included for sensor module and for method of forming opto-electronic sensor module.
