A lighting unit dot motor vehicle has a light source (2) with socket/base region (4) and support (6) for mounting the light source. Electrical connections are provided on the housing-side for the lighting unit. Electrical contacting of the light source with the connections on the housing-side results via electrical contacts (14,16) formed on or in the socket/base region (4) rotatably arranged on the socket support (6). Independent claims are included for the following. (1) a module for lighting unit; and (2) assembling a lighting unit.
