An image forming apparatus and an image forming method are provided to select an area which will be printed in image data or a portion by using the first and second area boxes, thereby improving convenience of a user and satisfying tastes of the user. In an image forming method of an image forming apparatus for printing image data inputted from the outside, the method comprises the following steps of: displaying the first area box indicating a print sheet, and the second area box indicating an area which will be printed in the image data or a position on the print sheet of the area(S130); selecting the area which will be printed in the image data or the position by using the first area box and the second area box; and outputting the image data at the selected position of the print sheet after performing image processing on the selected area(S150,S160).
