A wide-area optical system is provided to secure wide detection distance regardless of the state of atmosphere or a visual field by detecting the light of a wide area with a CCD(Charge Coupled Device) by decreasing chromatic aberration and distortion aberration. A wide-area optical system for forming an image on a sensing device(1), such as a CCD, includes a chromatic aberration decreasing front double lens(10) installed on an optical path of the optical system to receive the light of a visible ray region and the light of a near infrared region at the same time; and a rear double lens(20) installed on the optical path formed on the rear side of the front double lens with arranging front and rear sides symmetrically to the front double lens. An iris(30) is interposed between the front double lens and the rear double lens.
