PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and a navigation method capable of guiding a proper traveling route corresponding to accurate right/left turn difficulty at a front crossing. SOLUTION: This navigation device is equipped with a lane detection means for detecting the number of passable lanes in the traveling direction of own car and the lane where own car is positioned, a congestion degree detection means for detecting the congestion degree of each passable lane in the traveling direction of own car, a determination means for determining the light/left turn difficulty at the front crossing based on the detected number of lanes, the lane and the congestion degree, and a guide means for guiding a traveling route corresponding to the determined light/left turn difficulty.
