PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid-cooled rotary electric machine, wherein a channel is formed without impairing cooling efficiency and machining and an air-cooled-type housing is used in common. SOLUTION: The liquid-cooled rotary electric machine is constructed as follows the housing 2, having on its outer circumferential surface band-shaped projections 21 that are parallel with the axial direction and have a width equivalent to a channel 61, is obtained by extrusion; both ends of the housing are closed with end brackets 3A, 3B provided with turnup channels 62 that connect adjacent channels 61 and a coolant supply chamber 33; and the housing is covered with an outer casing 1, having a coolant inlet 35 and a coolant outlet (not shown).
