PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate file management by dividing roles for managing an object and a file. SOLUTION: A video file is composed of extents. A cell can be defined within recording reproducing video management data. A program chain (PGC) for setting a plurality of reproduction sequences can be defined by connecting the plurality of the cells. Between the cells belonging to the different PGC, the same part in a video object VOB can be designated with duplication. The recording reproducing video management data includes program chain information PGCI, a search pointer indicating cell information CI regarding the cell and a position for the above CI. The information on the file system includes a file entry FE for the video file. The FE includes an allocation descriptor AD.
