PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an NCO-terminated prepolymer by such a way as already not forming precipitates and not precipitating during the preservation of the prepolymer at room temperature. SOLUTION: This method for producing the NCO-terminated prepolymer having precipitation stability at room temperature comprises (a) mixing (1) at least one polyethercarbonatepolyol having a mol.wt. of 1,000 to 4,000 g/mol with (2) at least one polyol selected from the group consisting of 1,2-propanediol and the like, and then (b) reacting the mixture formed in (a) with a stoichiometrically excessive amount of (3) 4,4'-diphenylmethanediisocyanate.
