PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for detecting leaks of hollow fiber membrane modules and capable of accurately specifying the location of hollow fiber membrane modules in which leaks have occurred. SOLUTION: The apparatus for detecting leaks of hollow fiber membrane modules comprises a pressure means for applying pressure to a gas in contact with the outside of a hollow fiber membrane of a hollow fiber membrane module, an imaging means for imaging a face of the hollow fiber membrane module, and a processing means for processing images acquired by the imaging means. As applying pressure by the pressure means, the face of the hollow fiber membrane module present in a liquid are imaged by the imaging means. Acquired images are processed by the processing means to detect air bubbles generated from the hollow fiber membrane and detect leaks in the method and the apparatus for detecting leaks of hollow fiber membrane modules.
