PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quality image forming device which permits the accurate positioning of an image recording means and a recording medium transfer means and always stably register colors at all times. SOLUTION: The image recording device arranges an image recording section 40 capable of recording an image across the entire width of a recording medium, and a platen section 30 holding the recording medium and transferring the recording medium in the direction intersecting the width direction of the recording medium at right angles face to face, makes the space between the image recording section 40 and the platen section 30 variable by a platen driving section 36 and sets the space between the platen driving section 36 and the image recording section 40 by the engagement of the positioning pin 42c of the carriage 42 with a slide hook 38-1.
