A display apparatus having an auto pixel shifting function and a pixel shifting method are provided to set a pixel shifting quantity according to a moving degree of an input video signal and shift pixels such that auto zoom-in and zoom-out are repeated so as to prevent a display panel from burning. A display apparatus includes a motion determination unit(140), a controller(170), and a scaler(120). The motion determination unit determines a moving degree of an image. The controller sets a pixel shifting quantity of a video signal corresponding to the image according to the moving degree. The scaler scales the video signal according to the pixel shifting quantity. The scaler repeats zoom-in and zoom-out to scale the video signal. The controller sets the pixel shifting quantity to at least two stages.
