A surface light source device and a back light unit having the same are provided to improve brightness uniformity by differently forming dimension of an electrode according to local temperature deviation of a surface light source device. A body part(500) has a plurality of light emitting parts(501). At least one electrode(600) is arranged on the plurality of light emitting parts for causing electric discharge, wherein the electrode has dimension partially different based on temperature deviation of the light emitting parts. The electrode compensates brightness uniformity lowered below a predetermined reference value due to the temperature deviation.
