Cylinder-like counter electrode (1) has a larger diameter on its external ends (5, 6) than in the central section (3). An independent claim is also included for a corona electrode system for continuous corona treatment of strip-like material, especially films, comprising a high voltage electrode and the above counter electrode. Preferred Features: The counter electrode is concave or conically tapers from its outer ends via sections (2, 4). The external ends have identical diameters.
