A mobile communication terminal having a function for transmitting a voice signal and a method using the same are provided to enable a voice signal detector to divide an inputted sound into a non-voice signal and a voice signal to detect the voice signal, thereby detecting and transmitting only the voice signal from the inputted sound, and transmitting various background sound pre-stored in the mobile communication terminal even when no voice signal is detected from the inputted sound. A mobile communication terminal having a function for transmitting a voice signal comprises the followings: an input unit(110); a voice signal detector(120) which divides an inputted sound into a non-voice signal and a voice signal, and detects the voice signal; a storage(140); a controller(130) which determines whether to simultaneously transmit a background sound, searched from the storage, and the detected voice signal or whether to transmit only the background sound searched from the storage according to whether there is the voice signal detected by the voice signal detector; and a transmitter(150) which simultaneously transmits the searched background sound and the detected voice signal or transmits only the searched background sound according to a control signal of the controller(130).
