Process for operating a door arrangement (2) comprises producing a differently colored light effect depending on the open and closed state of a door element (1) during the opening and closing phase. Independent claims are also included for: (1) Door element for a door arrangement; (2) Production of a door element; and (3) Use of a door element for door arrangements in buildings, in motor vehicles, boats and in aircraft for improving personal safety and reducing the danger of colliding with the door element. Preferred Features: The light effect is produced by LEDs, laser-diodes or electroluminescent strips.
