A surface light source device and a display device having the same are provided to prevent pin holes from generating on electrodes by accumulating a thermal conductive material on the electrodes. A first substrate(101) is prepared. A second substrate(103) is installed separately from the first substrate for forming a discharge area. First electrodes(107a,109a) are formed on the first substrate. Second electrodes(107b,109b) are formed on the second substrate. A thermal conductive material(108) is accumulated on one or more electrodes among the first electrodes and the second electrodes.
