摘要 An IPS liquid crystal display device is provided to shield a diffracted light at a step part in an electrode pattern structure, and remove light leakage from outer edge parts of electrode patterns, thereby improving contrast of display on a screen. An IPS(In Plane Switching) liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate arranged opposite to the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer inserted between the first substrate and the second substrate, and polarizers arranged at outsides of the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate includes a plurality of signal lines(1) and scanning lines(8) arranged in a matrix shape, TFT(Thin Film Transistor) switching devices formed at crossing points of the signal lines and the scanning lines, comb-shaped pixel electrodes(6) connected with the TFT switching devices, and comb-shaped common electrodes(7) formed to be engaged with the pixel electrodes. The pixel electrodes, the common electrodes, and the signal lines have a pattern structure in which the pixel electrodes, the common electrodes, and the signal lines are bent in parallel with each other. Step parts are formed at outer edges of the pixel electrodes, the common electrodes, and the signal lines. Two edges including the step parts of the pixel electrodes, the common electrodes, and the signal lines are orthogonal to an optical axis respectively, in parallel with each other.
