A backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display including the same are provided to prevent an increase in temperature due to heat generation of lamps, thereby preventing life span of the lamps and pin holes from being reduced. A plurality of lamps(25) supply light to a liquid crystal panel and are arranged at uniform gaps. A pair of lamp holders(30) are placed at both ends of the lamps for supporting and fixing the lamps, having regular grooves at bottoms in a length direction. A lower container(40) is formed of a bottom plane and side walls extended from edges of the bottom plane, containing the lamps and the lamp holders in a space formed by the bottom plane and the side walls. An upper container(70) is coupled with the lower container for fixing the lamps and the lamp holders. |
