A dust collecting unit of a vacuum cleaner is provided to improve the operating performance of the damper assembly by reducing the reaction speed of the damper assembly about the overload of the fan-motor. A dust collecting unit of a vacuum cleaner is composed of: a dust collecting container(320) collecting impurities flowed inside; a filter assembly(340) installed at one side in the dust collecting container to selectively pass through the air inside and to filter the impurities; and a dust collecting cover(360) for shielding the inside of the dust collecting container and guiding the movement of the air passed through the filter assembly. A damper assembly(400) is mounted at one side in the dust collecting cover and selectively operated when the overload of the fan-motor occurs so as to open the inner space of the dust collecting cover to the outside. The damper assembly is bored with a hole(374) at the center and mounted at the upper surface of a space formation plate(370).
