METHOD FOR PERFORMING MULTILEVEL HALFTONING ON SCANNED IMAGE

An image forming method for performing multilevel halftoning of a scanned image is provided to print the image maximally close to an original image by performing the halftoning of the scanned image with multilevel. A change degree for a pixel value of multiple pixels is evaluated for a continuous tone image comprising the multiple pixels by finding convolution of the pixel value of the neighboring pixels(S120). The continuous tone image is converted into a halftone image to make dots corresponding to each neighboring pixel dispersed and formed in a specific paper as the change degree of the evaluated pixel value gets higher(S160). The pixel values of the pixels having the change degree smaller than a specific value are averaged(S140).
