A service system for catching/presenting a ring tone(color ring) and a method therefor are provided to enable a present service server to receive information about a presented target to change a ring tone by updating information of a ring tone server, if a user selects a desired ring tone while listening to ring tones, thereby offering a changeable service without searching and downloading the ring tones. A mobile terminal(100) receives a caller's request. An originating MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(110) transmits a sound source catch signal to a ring tone IP(Internet Protocol)(140). An HLR(Home Location Register)(120) stores and provides information on a receiving MSC(130) connected with a receiver and ring tone service-related information. The receiving MSC(130) transmits a sound source received by demanding the sound source to the ring tone IP(140), to the originating MSC(110). The ring tone IP(140) provides the sound source as receiving a sound source catch request. A ring tone server(150) stores a sound source code. A present service server(160) receives information on a user to whom a ring tone will be provided, and demands message transmission which requests an SMS(Short Message Service) server(170) to access the present service server(160). The SMS server(170) transmits an SMS according to the request of the present service server(160).
