A core and an inductor having the same are provided to protect a contact error by improving a fixation intensity of components in a substrate. A convex portion(52) is extruded from an end portion of a core. The convex portion includes a peak surface portion(52c) and a step portion. The peak surface portion is formed at the end portion. The step portion is formed between an external edge of the peak surface portion and the end portion of the core. An electrode portion(53) having a conductive film is formed on the surface of the peak surface portion and the step portion. The external edge of the peak surface portion between the peak surface portion and the step portion is formed with an R shape.
