A container for forming an electrode that can be used in electric reduction furnaces. The container comprises a cylindrical casing. Within the cylindrical casing is a plurality of ribs attached along the inner surface of the casing lengthwise of the cylindrical casing. At least one of the ribs in the container is made of a material comprising copper.
