A device and a method for obtaining application information of a short-range communication terminal are provided to enable the first terminal obtain the application information offered from the second terminal in a short time and to find the second terminal offering a design application in the short time by using an SDP(Service Discovery Protocol) in the Bluetooth communication. A manager(604) processes a command related to the application(602). An SDP extension record memory(606) stores an SDP extension record for storing the application information not defined as a standard in short-range communication. An SDP standard record memory(608) stores an SDP standard record for storing the application information defined as the standard. A short-range communicator(610) performs the short-range communication. An SDP client(612) obtains the information by searching the terminal through the short-range communicator if a search command is inputted from the application through the manager. An SDP server(614) reads and transmits the SDP extension/standard record through the short-range communicator if an SDP search request signal is received.
